Mathieu Amalric, class 1965, was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, Paris suburb. Son of Journalists - Nicole Zand, literary critic for Le Monde and Jacques Amalric, director of foreign affairs for Le Monde and Libération - debuts as an actor in 1984 in the movie Favorites of the Moon. Success comes with the comedy Diary of a Seducer (1996) and in the film My Sex Life or How I Got into an Argument by Arnaud Desplechi, with which he obtains the Cesar Prize as best male actor. In the 2000s he began to dedicate himself to the director: his autobiography Mange ta soupe, Wimbledon Stage (2001) and Public Affairs presented in Cannes in 2003. The passion for actor life brings him back to the Set in the film Kings & Queen (2004), in the drama film Munich by Spielberg and in The Moustache. He is part of the Marie-Antoinette cast directed by Sofia Coppola and is the protagonist of the film "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" (2007) presented in Cannes Festival in 2007. He plays the bad Dominic Greene in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace (2008) and is one of the protagonists of A Christmas Tale (2008). With his fourth feature film, On tour, he won the Best Director Award at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
